We are a Naval Shore Party. We portray what the sailor of the day, would be like.

The TAHOMA is a gun boat, attached to the EAST GULF BLOCKADING SQUADRON. Our squadron covers the Florida Coast and the Keys. Navy shore parties are used by the ARMY in almost every campaign. From the Mississippi river to the Chesapeake. Even in the Oregon territories.

Our own unit composes a Naval artillery gun crew. We have three cannons, and two "Cohorns" (mortars) that we have at almost every event. We are all trained in the NAVY style of operations for the day. Both on board our own land ship, and on the field of battle. We all are all "gun qualified" and have an excellent safety record. Everyone of us are able and qualified to do every position on a gun.

Because we are a blockading gun boat, we would have refugees on hand. As we would be taking these men, women and children to safety in the North, not all of Florida's population wanted to be in the Confederacy. We use the men as guides and saboteurs. So your entire family would be welcome to join in the fun in camp.

To Join us or to get more information, please contact Lt Cmdr Steve Jones, or Lt John (Ernie) Sherrill, or any of our sailors.
